Inlay Restorations
Inlay restorations are used when the amount of decay or crack in the tooth requires more restoration than a filling can provide but is less invasive than a crown. Due to our in-house technology we can typically create the restoration in far less time by doing the lab work in house. Inlay restorations require the following treatment plan; a comprehensive exam is executed, a treatment plan is created, the affected tooth is digitally scanned, the inlay is designed on the milling machine, the inlay is placed to ensure proper fit, and then the final step is cementing the inlay in place.
Onlay Restorations
An onlay is very similar to an inlay with the difference being the affected area is on one of the cusps of the teeth. The process is the same and the restoration can be done in-house or in gold based on the agreed upon treatment plan.
Amalgam Fillings
Amalgam fillings are sometimes referred to as Silver fillings. The filling is used when the tooth has been compromised on one or multiple surfaces. The procedure is typically done while the patient is numb but may be accomplished without depending on the severity. A few days up to a week after the procedure it is possible to have sensitivity to hot and cold, but if this situation persists please contact us as soon as possible.
Composite Fillings
A composite filling is very similar to an amalgam filling but is often preferred by patients due to aesthetics. Upon examination the doctor will discuss the options available and give recommendations according to the situation. Chips in teeth, gaps in smiles, some cracks in teeth, decay, and wear from grinding are all possible situations for using composite fillings.
